![]() I just wish for once we could go back to taking superhero films seriously again. For that reason, Raimi's Spider Man will always be fondly remembered as genuinely good films in general instead of being bogged down by their relation to the superhero genre (with the possible exception of Spider Man 3 though even that film has some outstanding moments). ![]() I always appreciated the Raimi Spider Man films because they weren't afraid to explore really deep and universal themes in the context of their mythos. It's like being afraid to commit to the drama of the scene in light of the fact that we're watching costumed heroes and villains go at it which makes every scene that should be heartfelt feel lazy. ![]() MCU movies seem to be afraid of letting scenes stand on their own dramatic merit and insert sarcastic one liners to break up the tension. ![]() But it wouldn't surprise me if that turns out to be the case.
